Ready to see things differently?

Welcome
to Heartfield Therapy

Something has called you here.

Heartfield therapy offers a space to slow down, be present, understand yourself more clearly,
and begin creating meaningful change.

Move from the head to the heart.

Mental health is emotional health. Your feelings, sensations, and connection with your body are the keys to unlocking and transforming persistent patterns of thinking and behaviour.

There is great wisdom in you; a profound opportunity to heal and grow.

And you don’t have to do it alone.

“What a gift, being heard and understood so deeply. I got to know myself better. Thank you Ben, you guided me deeper into my heart, which has always known where I want to go.“”

— Darren N.

Just like the moon, our psyches and nervous systems reflect the light of our experiences…and also hide the shadows.

And just like the moon, we have been struck by things big and small throughout our lives that have left their mark on us.

This is what is meant by the human condition. It is the pain of the impact and separation from other people, ourselves and trust in life itself.

Why people come to therapy

This shows up as feeling stuck in patterns we don’t fully understand. Niggling tensions appearing again and again in relationships.

The constant internal pressure that makes it difficult to trust, relax or truly love.

Or simply a sense that life could feel clearer, calmer, or more connected.

Therapy offers a space to slow down and explore what is actually happening, with honesty, curiosity,
and non-judgemental support.

Whilst our pains are born in relationship,
they are also healed in relationship.

The Heartfield approach

Heartfield Therapy is grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy, an approach that focuses on awareness, presence, and the relationship between therapist and client.

Rather than analysing problems from a distance, this work invites you to pay close attention to what is happening in the present moment; in your thoughts, emotions, and body.

As awareness develops, patterns that once felt fixed often begin to “automagically” shift, and what emerges is more capacity and choice.

Over time, this can lead to greater clarity, deeper self-understanding, and the ability to respond to life in new ways.

Why the name Heartfield?

The human heart generates the strongest rhythmic electromagnetic field in the body. It can be measured up to 1-3 metres away. It is the steady pulse of your life force from birth to death. And it is the source of empathy, connection and relational impact.

One of the core principles of Gestalt therapy is the field; the dynamic system of relationships between a person and their environment. This includes the body, immediate surroundings, relational context, and broader contexts like family systems, culture, and social norms.

Heartfield is where the two meet. The acknowledgment and honouring of the capacity of the human heart to transform pain into healing, forgiveness, power and peace.

Meet Ben McEwing

Hi, I’m Ben.
I work with individuals who want to understand themselves more clearly and create meaningful change in their lives.

My approach is grounded in awareness, relational presence, and the connection between thoughts, emotions, and the body.

I hold a graduate certificate and a master’s degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy, and alongside my private practice, I work as a facilitator and coach with organisations and leaders.

Most importantly, I am a human like you. I am on the earth to feel, express, and live from the heart. It’s not always easy, but it’s so so worth it.

In the words of poet Mary Oliver, this is how I’m choosing to live my one wild and precious life. And I’m here, in service, to support you to live yours. Just the way you want.

Therapy sessions are available in person (Melbourne) and online.
